Brooklyn Book Fest
I’ll be at Brooklyn Book Fest (and this will also be the first time in my life that I’ve set foot in Brooklyn; I think that for a writer, avoiding Brooklyn till the age of 37 is a pretty remarkable accomplishment).
Panel at 3 pm in the Borough Hall Courtroom:
Intimacy. Three renowned novelists talk about capturing the highs and lows of the closest and most fraught relationships. Lauren Groff’s Fates and Furies examines the shifting compromises of a 24-year marriage; Rebecca Makkai’s story collection Music for Wartime digs into the author’s own family secrets, and in Chinelo Okparanta’s Under the Udala Trees two young women risk falling in love as Nigeria descends into civil war. Moderated by Darin Strauss (Half a Life).
