This one will be fun: My first Chicago-proper event for The Hundred-Year House will be Saturday, August 9th at 7 pm at The Book Cellar in Lincoln Square. The event is cosponsored by StoryStudio Chicago, and there will be some kind of in-conversation-with thing and there will be wine, and it will be good.

Part of The Hundred-Year House is set in 1929. All of Renee Rosen's novel Dollface is set in the 1920s. So obviously we need to have a speakeasy night at City Lit Books. There will be specialty 20's cocktails from North Shore Distillery. Costumes encouraged but not required. It'll be the cat's pajamas.

I'll be appearing at the Kentucky Women Writers Conference in Lexington, KY on September 12th and 13th -- giving a craft talk ("Ending it All") in two parts (10:15-11:15 both days), and participating in a panel on Alice Munro. Registration is required for the conference.

Reading at The Book Stall in Winnetka, IL 9/18

I'll be reading at one of my absolute favorite local indies, The Book Stall at Chestnut Court in Winnetka, IL at 7 pm on Thursday, September 18th. There are at least two wine bars within walking distance. It will be lovely.

Southern Festival of Books (Nashville), Oct. 11

I'll be appearing in Nashville, TN at the Southern Festival of Books, which runs from Friday, October 10th to Sunday, October 12th.
