I could talk your ear off about favorite writers, and favorite dead writers, and favorite obscure writers, and writers who are friends, and writers who should have won the Nobel Prize, and writers who did win the Nobel Prize, and writers who I’d like to come back as in another life, if reincarnation turns out to be true and also works backwards. But what I’m going to list here are writers who, in my worst dreams, you might not have read yet. Some are very, very accomplished and have won multiple awards – I’m not sitting here “discovering” anybody – I’m just saying that if there’s anyone on this list of whom you are not already a devoted fan, you ought to run out and fix that. Immediately.
